Formal Dress

The uniform committee has outlined below the uniform requirements for Formal Dress, Normal Daily Wear, Summer Dress, and Winter Dress for students in Kindergarten to Grade 7. Please ensures that your children adhere to the uniform requirements.  All items except footwear must be purchased through the school.

“We cannot stress enough the importance of labeling all clothing clearly.  Iron-on tags are available (forms available at the office and attached) with delivery to your home within a couple of days.  Many pieces of clothing are found and remain unclaimed each term.  Without identification, these items remain in the Lost and Found.  Please note:  All unclaimed items are donated to the Parent Guild Uniform Committee.”

Summer dress is worn from after Easter until Thanksgiving (September – late October and again late March – June) and consists of the following:

  • Summer Dress (Kindergarten to Grade 7 boys) school golf shirt, navy shorts with navy socks (knee length), and a cardigan, pullover or vest as an option.
  • Summer Dress (Kindergarten to Grade 7 girls) school golf shirt, navy skort with navy socks (knee length), and a cardigan, pullover or vest as an option.

WINTER DRESS (NORMAL DAILY DRESS)

Winter dress is worn from Thanksgiving until Easter (October to late March) and consists of the following:

  • Winter (Kindergarten to Grade 7 boys) navy turtleneck, grey pants with grey socks and a cardigan, pullover or vest as an option.
  • Winter Dress (Kindergarten to Grade 3 girls) navy turtleneck, tunic with navy tights and a cardigan, pullover or vest as an option.

NAVY TURTLENECKS

- Navy Turtlenecks are available for purchase through the school.

Please note that if a student is not wearing the navy turtleneck, then they MUST wear the white oxford shirt with the school tie.  Oxfords without a tie are not acceptable.

Students in unacceptable dress will be directed to the office and the parents will be contacted.

Unacceptable dress includes:

  • Oxford shirt with no tie
  • Golf shirt with grey pants (golf shirts can only be worn with navy shorts)
  • Runners or non-black dress shoes with any combination of school clothing
  • Winter clothing substitutes for inside wear include:  hoodies, jackets or any pullover type of clothing that is other than the school issued clothing.

Regular Maintenance and repair of clothing

It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that all clothing – especially the Blazers – are to be kept in exceptionally clean condition.  Should articles of your child’s clothing be in need of immediate attention, a note from the office will be sent to the parents to inform them of the matter.  For example, some students leave dirty blazers and/or blazers in need to repair, at the school and parents many not know there is a concern.

Presentation outside the school

It is very important that students wear the uniform in it’s official style when appearing in the general public.  We are at a critical time in the growth of our school and an image of excellence and quality is paramount at all times.  To that end, we are asking parents to assist us by ensuring their child is always neatly tucked in and that they are in the community in clean clothing.  Better to have a second set of ‘street’ clothing that is clean and to be out of the school colours and crest instead of portraying a messy image while wearing the school colours and crest.

Used Uniforms

Used uniforms are periodically available throughout the year. Please watch for announcements or contact the Uniform committee at uniforms@Aberdeenhall.com
