In recognition of World Mental Health Day on October 10th, Aberdeen Hall organized a series of initiatives aimed at promoting positive mental health and well-being among students and staff.
From the data collected by our school counselors, we have found that October is particularly challenging for our students in terms of mental well-being, underscoring the importance of these initiatives. These efforts provided valuable tools to help students manage their mental health proactively, reinforcing the significance of mental wellness in both their academic and personal lives. We are proud to have hosted these meaningful events, which continue to support our school’s commitment to fostering a healthy, balanced environment for all students.
A key highlight among these initiatives was a visit from the Caring Canines therapy dogs, which offered students a chance to calm their nervous systems, connect with others, and reduce stress. This initiative was met with great enthusiasm, creating a calming and supportive environment to promote emotional well-being.
In the Middle School, Ms. K has been working daily with students and educators, teaching a variety of strategies to reduce stress and build mental resilience. Classes learned practical techniques such as breathing exercises, positive visualization, muscle relaxation, and physical movement to support emotional health.
High School students participated in an assembly focused on effective goal setting, self-reflection, and behaviour chain analysis. They were encouraged to think critically about their habits and develop healthier decision-making skills to support their overall well-being.
These initiatives provided valuable tools to help students manage their mental health proactively, reinforcing the importance of mental wellness in both their academic and personal lives. We are proud to have hosted these meaningful events, which continue to support our commitment to fostering a healthy, balanced environment for all students.
At Aberdeen Hall, we seek to admit well-rounded students who choose to be at our school. We are looking for students who demonstrate leadership through academic performance, involvement in co-curricular activities and civic engagement. We care about our students and seek those who value education and are prepared to enrich our incredible school community.
