A Holistic Education for a Modern World

At Aberdeen Hall we believe that preparing students for success in an ever-changing world means nurturing their ability to be confident, adaptable, creative, and well-rounded. Although we are a university preparatory school, we want students to be happy and balanced by offering a wide variety of programming.

At Aberdeen Hall the Arts are considered to be a key component of a holistic education for the modern world. Our students are exposed to a wide range of arts instruction in the Early Learning Centre, the Junior School and the Senior School.

Music

Our established Music Program is taught by experienced, professional musicians and gives students the opportunity to learn violin, cello, guitar and percussion. Junior School students receive music instruction twice weekly, starting with the Orff Music Program in Kindergarten through Grade 2. In Grade 3, students begin a three year violin or cello program. Percussion and Guitar are added to the curriculum in Grade 6. Beginning in Grade 9, Senior School students will learn to compose their own music in our professional in-house recording studio.

Drama

We encourage students to express themselves and build self-confidence in public speaking through the lively and dynamic drama program. Students will learn and practice dramatic skills with voice projection, body language, group interaction, memory work, and concentration.

Both Junior and Senior School drama courses include an annual stage production.

Visual and Studio Arts

The visual arts are an integral part of everyday life, permeating all levels of human creativity, expression and understanding. Our Visual Arts program teaches students to perceive, respond and create visual art in both two and three dimensions. Students will learn image and design strategies, visual elements and principles of Art, and to utilize different mediums and techniques.

Our Design Studio is a true makerspace and provides our Senior Students with the opportunity to explore new technology such as 3D printers, vinyl cutters and much more. They will have the ability to study graphic design, 3D design, animation, web publishing and digital photography.
