Our Grade 10 students recently completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition, a global, non-competitive framework for experiential learning. The Award is designed to help young people develop essential life skills and gain the confidence they need to take their future in stride.
Over three days, students moved beyond the classroom to build practical knowledge in canoeing, fire building, casting, and filleting fish. These hands-on experiences were rooted in environmental stewardship, providing students with consistent opportunities to demonstrate their growing self-reliance and grit.
We want to extend a huge thank you to our guides, Victoria and JD from @wethinkoutside_official. Thank you for your patience and for keeping us laughing throughout the learning process. You made the challenges of the trail much more rewarding.
We are so excited to return the favor and host you at our school campus trails later this spring!
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is used to enhance our existing curriculum by focusing on:
Life Skills: Developing the tools necessary for future employability.
Confidence: Building the independence required to navigate real-world challenges.
Achievement: Earning a sense of accomplishment through personal growth and perseverance.
At Aberdeen Hall, we seek to admit well-rounded students who choose to be at our school. We are looking for students who demonstrate leadership through academic performance, involvement in co-curricular activities and civic engagement. We care about our students and seek those who value education and are prepared to enrich our incredible school community.
