Aberdeen Hall Family Boarding

Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School facilitates a Family Boarding (homestay) Program partnering with local families who are carefully selected, open minded, and appreciative of other cultures. Most importantly, we are  committed to our host families providing international students with a 'home away from home'.

We believe that a safe and welcoming English speaking home environment is integral to a student’s positive Canadian experience and require international students to live with an Aberdeen Hall host family.

All host families have successfully completed the school’s comprehensive screening process and adhere to provincial Homestay Guidelines.

Being a part of Aberdeen Hall’s Family Boarding Program is an enriching experience and a wonderful opportunity to fully immerse into Canadian culture, create lifelong friendships, and improve English language skills.

Testimonials

"Coming to Aberdeen Hall was one of the best experiences of my life! Everyone in the community was so receptive and welcoming. I am very thankful to everyone and for everything I learned during my time in Kelowna. I have no words to describe my host family; they made me feel at home since day one. I had such a great time here that a year after leaving, I had to come back to visit.  I am very grateful for everything Aberdeen Hall provided me."

Isabella, international alumna (Brazil)

"He came to Aberdeen Hall a boy, He is leaving a man."

Antonio Pizutto, father of Aberdeen Hal international alumni, Tony (Mexico)

"My daughter, Cherry Chan, studied at Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School for Grade 11 and 12 from 2017-2019. Aberdeen Hall has a beautiful campus, a supportive learning environment, and caring and dedicated teachers. The class sizes are small so that teachers can provide individualized attention to students with different needs. I witnessed Cherry become more confident and independent throughout her time at Aberdeen Hall and with her teachers' encouragement, she became bolder in class and more willing to take on challenges she would have previously shied away from. Cherry is now doing her undergraduate degree in Vancouver and pursuing her dreams of becoming an artist and designer. Our experience at Aberdeen Hall was sweet and unforgettable."

"Aberdeen Hall provides an excellent learning environment.  First of all, we have really small classes which are usually less than 20 students.  The teachers focus on both creative and percipient thinking. In addition to normal assignments, they ask us to complete supplemental research projects, brainstorming, making and presenting powerpoints, and creating large posters. Aberdeen Hall is located in a fabulous place.  It is surrounded by mountains and lakes and is across the street from UBCO.  If you have time, you can even go to the university campus for lunch with professors and college students."

Sylvia, international alumna (Hong Kong, China)

"We’ve noticed a big change in our son since he began attending Aberdeen Hall.  When he was home recently, he communicated with us more than ever before and has gone from a passive learner to taking an active role in his education. These results are due to the joint efforts of the Aberdeen Hall teachers, Ms. Crebo (the international coordinator) and my son’s host family.  Thank you very much."
